TERROIR OF THE VIGNA KASTELAZ
The Vigna 'Kastelaz' is distinguished by its extraordinary slope, which overlooks the picturesque village of Tramin, and is one of the rare southern exposures in the region. With an incline of over 63%, the vineyard develops in terraces all facing south, a rarity in Alto Adige. Here, thanks to very limited yields and manual harvesting, wines of excellence are produced under the Elena Walch label.

Very carefully selected, fully ripe grapes get selected, picked in two harvests. Before pressing, the crushed berries are cold macerated for 6 hours, after which the juice is clarified by refrigeration and natural sedimentation. Fermentation is activated using selected yeasts and the temperature is controlled at 18.

TASTING
The Gewürztraminer Vigna “Kastelaz” has long been one of the most famous Gewürztraminer wines on the international stage. It presents itself with a rich, golden yellow color and a beguilingly complex bouquet: elegant and mineral, with aromas of roses and lychee, as well as some acacia honey in the background. The wine is also convincing and complex on the palate: with elegant structure, stimulating acidity, harmonious spicy freshness and delicate, juicy finish. A wine with a lot of finesse and character.

FOOD RECOMMENDATION
Perfect accompaniment to shellfish, crabs and lobster, to asiatic dishes and blue cheese.

2021WINE CRITIC
The aromas are crisp of exotic fruit, citrus and elegant floral vein. The structure is very fine, yet toned and dynamic. The finish is juicy, very long and aristocratic.

A majestic Gewürztraminer who gave Elena Walch the title "The Queen of the Gewürztraminer".
