The extremely low yields from the sun-drenched, steeply sloping terraces of this south-facing site are transformed into a soft, velvety red wine that impresses with its spicy notes, great structure and elegant finesse.

TERROIR OF THE VIGNA KASTELAZ
The Vigna
'Kastelaz' is distinguished by its extraordinary slope, which overlooks the
picturesque village of Tramin, and is one of the rare southern exposures in the
region. With an incline of over 63%, the vineyard develops in terraces all
facing south, a rarity in Alto Adige. Here, thanks to very limited yields and
manual harvesting, wines of excellence are produced under the Elena Walch
label.

<div>Must fermentation for approximately 10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation for 18 months in French oak barriques (Limousine and Allier), almost all of which are new. Bottle maturation for about 8 months before being released.</div><div><br></div>

TASTING
A fresh, bright ruby red characterizes the Merlot Riserva Vigna “Kastelaz”. The wine presents itself on the nose with intense and pure aromas, with fruity notes of Morello cherries and plums, with a hint of caramel and delicate toasty aromas. The palate is filled with supple, velvety tannins, a soft, round texture, a juicy, spicy body, fruity concentration and delicate elegance. An invitingly attractive charmer!
