Firm tannins, meaty structure with opulence and elegance fill the palate where the wine convinces with softness and juiciness, with drinking pleasure and a pleasingly stimulating finish.

TERROIR

Southeast-facing vineyards at around 200 m.a.s.l. (650 ft) to 400 m.a.s.l. (1300 ft). Calcareous soils with clay and sand. Elena Walch’s broad portfolio of terroirs span the best aspects of Alto Adige winegrowing. The vineyards are blessed with a combination of Mediterranean warmth and cool winds from the surrounding Dolomites, creating unique and desirable tension in the wines. Hand-picked with the greatest care.

VINIFICATION

Traditional temperature controlled fermentation for 10 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in French and Slavonian oak barrels of 80hl. Maturation in large oak barrels.

FOOD RECOMMENDATION

A broad range of meat dishes such as steaks or roasts, grilled or fried red meat and mature cheeses.
