Lagrein Riserva Vigna "Castel Ringberg"

The Lagrein Riserva Vigna “Castel Ringberg” embodies the greatest complexity and structure of this indigenous Alto Adige variety. This single-vineyard wine from the top site Vigna “Castel Ringberg” in Caldaro unfolds a fascinating aromatic spectrum of dark berries, spices and delicate notes of tobacco, enveloped in velvety opulence and minerally length. The contrasting microclimate, with strong differences between day and night, produces a great wine with extremely low yields on complex limestone soils.

TERROIR OF VIGNA CASTEL RINGBERG

The altitude of the vineyard, located between 330 and 400 meters above sea level, creates an optimal microclimate for the production of wines with a distinctive character. The mild climate of Lake Caldaro is complemented by the cool night breezes and the strong southern afternoon wind "Ora," which brings dry air to the vineyard. The extreme care taken in tending the vineyard, with a strong respect for nature, and the deliberately low yields contribute to making the "Castel Ringberg" vineyard a cradle of exceptional wines.

VINIFICATION

Must fermentation for approximately 10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maturation for 20 months in French oak barriques, all of which are new. The wine is then being bottle aged for several months before being released.

WINE CRITIC

This expressive red is broad and creamy on the palate without being overly weighty. Offers flavors of macerated blackberry and black plum fruit, plus hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, dried dill and oregano. A rich, smoky mineral streak lingers on the finish.
